One thing that these company's that the carriers are hiring to help them are over looking.
Points do not cross from one basic to another. And each basic carries different weight.
The max points for 1 violation in each basic is capped at 10, for that one violation.
1 point being the least important violation, and 10 being the worst.
So a 10 point violation in say the Drugs and alcohol basic does not carry the same weight as a 10 point violation in the HOS or Load securement basic.
This will take some time to iron out. But eventually they will realize that the FMCSA is not looking at just a point total. They are looking at points in each basic separately.
From the drivers end they have to look at totals for now as well. But need to also look at it from the safety end and on each basic. It will not be the total points that will matter, but what basic they are in.
If they have allot in maintenance, that will reflect on the driver some, but much more on the company.
If they have allot in Fatigue, it will look just as bad on them and the company. Since if they are racking up allot of points over time, then the company is not doing their job in policing that driver.
Since I have been with my carrier since before the PSP came out, they don't have access to my prior history. Neither does the insurance company. The FMCSA Say's that they will not have access to this info unless I leave and hire back with them.
Because the PSP is a pre-hire tool only. I have to give direct permission for them to access that data.
The only data the carrier or insurance have on me is the past year that I have been with the company.
And trust me, the company's and insurance company's want that data bad. But it is not set up in a way for them to get to it.

What is everyones opinion about cpm after CSA 2010 is implemented? Increase, decrease or about the same?

I would have thought that if a lot of drivers lose their job the pay would go up as there would be a shortage of trucks having the shippers competing for business offering more money instead of a million carriers competing for the business going down...But what do I know...
-
It will only lower the driver pool for a short time.
They will then start yelling about a driver shortage so they can get drivers fast tracked thru the work Visa process, and bring in all the drivers they want from Europe and Mexico.
Congress will never realize that there is not a shortage of drivers, just a shortage of people willing to work for low wages. -

I just checked btw.
They still plan to replace safestat with CSA this fall. And then they will start sending letters in the spring. -
In case none of you have noticed driver pay has already started to increase.
