During my career, I used Comchecks/EFS to pay for hotel rooms, meals and at Walmart's. I never used my own money. If I was broke down the company would send me a code, heck some hotels and banks have the blanks! Fact!
EDIT: Banks take checks based on the customer and the rules set up. Most banks are aware of the money transfer instruments used in the transportation industry. Most banks know when that code has been entered and that confirmation number received that check is a fully legal instrument. I have had locksmiths take them. I once had a plumber take one.
Efs checks???

If you go to Exxon will they take a Shell credit card? Same difference. You don't do business with Exxon. If you go to Burger King will they take a Wendy's coupon? Stay in your lane.

Respectfully disagree. I went to Wells Fargo with a Wells Fargo check. They should provide that service for their customers interest.
I will never do business with them, their loss.
I do not do self check out as well. -
Sorry. It's just not the way it works. If they cash any check for you and somehow payment gets stopped how would they reclaim their money? You have no account there.

Most Banks have removed the (IF) from the checks. In fact, I was depositing a personal check someone gave me last week and noticed the teller running the check through a machine. I have been told those machines pull the funds off the account right at that time. One reason today it is almost impossible to kite a check at a US Bank. Heck have you ever tried to write a check in Walmart lately? They do a direct draft right from YOUR account right on the spot. If by chance someone puts a (stop payment) on a check the bank will decline it. At least this is what I have observed in the last 10 to 15 years.

Every bank i know of is the same. If you don't have an account there they charge to cash the check.

Check cashing is a service in today's banking, regardless of the bank the check is drawn on, although some banks will honor their own checks and cash them for free or a reduced charge. My bank provides me free check cashing, free ATM use (provided I stay in the network) and a free safe deposit box. I can get free notary service and I have been provided both a Debit card and a Credit Card with no fees. Because these things are considered a service today you will pay for using them if you have no business relationship with the bank. Now one thing I love in today's world is the ability to pay my bills through auto bank draft. To be honest I have little need to carry much cash on me.Lepton1 and Trucking in Tennessee Thank this.

Yes they will. They also will do them through your phone app. But it takes longer to go through . They hold them for 1 day. It's less hold for them if you use the app. Only one day for mine.

I have never had a bank try to charge me to cash a check drawn on their bank when I didn't have an account. I did however have one in Arizona try not to cash one, because they had a policy of not cashing anything more than a thousand bucks, unless you had an account. I kept threatening to call the grouchy old guy that gave me the check and tell him he gave me a bad check and they kept telling me he had plenty of money, it wasn't bad. I kept telling them it was bad if his own bank that he had plenty of money in wouldn't cash it, it just don't get no worse. several managers later, they cashed it. a few weeks went by and he gave me another one, when I walked in the gal called a manager before I even got to her, and he just told her to cash it, didn't even know how much yet. lol
So far here we do not have those problems yet, I can walk in and out with 40 grand cash, they do get all your id info though.
Now a comcheck or efs, will get you that deer in the headlights look. When I first started running up here the truckstop didn't know what they were, I wound up getting them set up and would bring them checks up when I came. lolLepton1 and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
I'm trying to figure places that do payroll check cashing on the road besides Walmart. They are not always around when you need them.
