Can anybody help. I am trying to change low & hot side egr coolers maxx force 13 2012 in a prostar. Somebody has already been in there and alot of the allen head bolts are rounded inside. It appears that there may be two bolts on the bottom of the egr cooler that hold the two sections together .But cant see them How do you get them out ??? Cant find anything on line I purchased On Command a while back but cant get it working , any advise appreciated . Thanks in advance

You only change the inner cores. Not the complete unit, the housing stays on the engine. You need special tooling for that.
-
I got complete units do you pull the complete unit out with out seperating
-
In that case, yes, you pull out the complete unit as an assembly. It needs a special alignment jig for when you bolt together the two halves though.
habfleet Thanks this. -
They built one of the most problematic engines in the business and you cant even fix anything easily now you need a jig to bolt a EGR Cooler together It just gets worse. I think I need to stay away from this junk

I got whiplash from shaking my head so much! Since both elements bolt to the head, you just have to make sure they are flush and square on that one plain where it bolts to the head.

Have you fixed your cooler?

For anyone in the future that is attempting this there are a couple of videos on youtube that show the process.
