Okay, this may be a silly question, but I have a habit of overthinking things and just want to be sure. I'm doing the online application for my husband's EIN. He'll be leasing a truck, so when it asks "Does your business own a highway motor vehicle with a
taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more?" Do I select yes or no, since he's leasing and doesn't actually own the truck at this point. I realize it's still considered an asset of the business, though....so yeah, I'm just not wanting to mess anything up, lol. I took accounting courses in college, even had a tax accounting course, but still, I want to make sure everything is perfect and done right. :) Thanks!

And also, he doesn't have the truck yet, so technically it's no right now, anyway. :p He has to get the lease first...

Select no, that question is used to determine if you also need to file form 2290, Heavy Highway Use Tax. Since you will be leasing the truck and not owning it, you are not the responsible party to file form 2290, the truck owner is. They may charge the tax back to you as a lessee, but they have to file it not you.
