I used to log 30 minutes no matter what. But now I log it like it happens. I’m home weekends so it doesn’t matter if I come in with 15 hours or 20 hours left on my 70. I get what you other guys are saying and I’d do the same as you if my situation were different.

 

When a couple 2-3 hour tarp jobs means the difference between getting home and getting stuck 4-5 hours out (requiring a driver to come with a car to come get the truck), I'll take getting home and the full paycheque.

 

90 minutes at most for me to strap and tarp, usually it’s an hour or under. Only time it takes longer is when I have to move my rope to another row of rings when I haul 60” wide stuff.

I’d run out of my 14 on Friday before anything else, and logging an extra hour earlier in the week wouldn’t affect that.

 

What I have done before is show on duty loading for about 20 minutes when I show up then log off duty and get the 30 minute break in while strapping, chaining or tarping because I usually run my 11 or 14 down to 30 minutes or less before shutting down.

 

If you want to legally get a break in after loading/unloading you have to log at least 30 mins on duty before or following a break. Even loading/unloading after a 10 hour break
At least that’s what the log lady at my company says.
I thought what if your unloaded faster..
She says it doesn’t matter, and this is what she does for a living lol
so I guess that’s what I go by
