Until someone post something officially from the FMCSA site this is all non-issue and if they do pass it i will just go under the 100 mile side of it and work 8 hours a day

As long as I control my logs and not the company, I don't see the problem. If you still believe a log book is a joke and you want to do your own thing out here, maybe you shouldn't be in trucking anyway. Cowboys, renegades and outlaw trucking companies are why all this got started in the first place.
To comply all you need to do is get the Rand McNally log system that works with the GPS. Of course that's assuming you have a choice. There are plenty of cost effective units available already and the DOT doesn't spend nearly as long examining logs when they are electronic as they do when they are paper.windsmith Thanks this. -
LMFAO Quite possibly the least informed answer I've EVER seen.......and one of the ones so many have used over the years when more restrictions are placed on us......think deregulation and the mandatory CDL.......the one thing you can count on is.. .. .Freight rates DO NOT go up.....no matter what goes on.....quick spikes yes.....but rates today....real money not adjusted....are 15% or more less than 20years ago....I could care less bout elogs at this point in my life.....but they ain't changing rates.....and as you already see w/many carriers on them....more&more new drivers will come out.....indoctrinated by other non drivers....pushed to the limit every day to maximize their so called hours.....racin thru pkg lots.....triple parking in the driveway....etc.....because they have NOTHING to do w/safety and everything about a company maximizing an employees usage.....what other job allows someone to work for 11 straight hours and said employee #####es about HAVING to take a break? The whole concept of the way HOS is being used today is ####ing absurd......and the original 10/8.....60/70.....had NOTHING to do w/safety per sea....it had to do w/protecting employees who were exemped from minimum wage requirements from being abused and forced to work excessive hours.......

I work for a private fleet, so I reallllly don't care about freight rates. I'm more annoyed by these old school dummys that think paper logs are better for them. You really think hey won't take your cell phone and check it's gps against your paper logs? Guess again. You can't get away with crap, so why not just change and get rid of the extra paperwork?

olhand many dont even know who nor why logs were created in the first place, they got in the industry cause they thought it was vacation on wheels, and when big companies started lobbying for all these push the lil man out mandates then they started the cattling of insufficient drivers and minimal training, id like to see what the safety data would be on drivers with 20-25 yrs exp is vs 5-10,1-5,and 10-20, im pretty sure that most of the safety concerns are from insufficient training with bad habits being a close second

"The mandate, however, will not apply to drivers of vehicles built in the year 2000 and before"
I knew putting so much money into keeping the '00 KW in tip-top shape would pay off sometime. If it holds up, hooray! For me, totally sucks for everyone else.peterbilt_2005, tsavory, Big_D409 and 1 other person Thank this. -
because I make really great money running the way I do.......thats why
as long as there are mega fleets there will be a need for guys like me and @'olhand , we do the job you people can't......'nuff said
so take all that new breed crap and preach it elsewhere.. -
