so im confused...they pull you over for a inspection, so why are y'all consenting to a search? nothing in fmcsa outlines a fridge or my duffel bag part of a safety inspection....stop allowing unlawful searches....

Make sure you are matched to tolls and other time stamped activities. Tolls are checked for speeding when you turn it in to pay it and they can cite you there with a ticket. It is not difficult to issue a warrant for the related information from your company for you and your particular truck and it's activites going back a certain time frame.

As far as the decals they are easy to spot on the tractors. Ive started seeing them myself when I pass or get passed by. Frankly I don't think those decals are necessary. We did not do decals for logging in our time and I don't see why we needed to start now this year.

I'm curious, how do you see them decals when you're blind?

"By my count we fed about 230 families once a month. I had to stop that work in 2009 after I went blind"

Put decal for ELD even if you are paper. It won't hurt.

Do they issue warrants during roadside inspection? I can imagine a warrant being issued when there's a fatality crash or something similar, but not a simple roadside inspection

happened to me, asked if they could search inside my truck told them to take a hike. 2.5 hours sitting at weigh station arguing with the michigan troopers...Officer DIAZ gave me a OOS for audible air leak. I asked the offcer to point where he heard the leaking sound and he pointed at my leveling valve(wich wasnt leaking)lol...recorded with my cell phone and filed a complaint with the michigan state troopers internal affairs.

Thank you for sticking up for rights granted to you under our Constitution. It is from my understanding, if you log line 2, they can inspect compliance in the sleeper berth. Bedding, mattress, no exhaust leak. Haven't had it happen yet, but if one starts "inspecting" other compartments outside the scope of FMCSA, we will have issues. Before some of you start jumping to conclusions about a cmv being subject to inspection at all times, look up the definition of inspection and search. How does the contents of my duffel bag relate to the safe operation of my truck? Simple....it doesn't!!. End of story
