What also upsets me, is that the so called output file can be read by DOT software only. So, I can't, technically, know what I sent....
Unconstitutional? Let's file another petition. Lol.

Seriously, everyone should cherish their pre 2000 engine trucks like they were made from gold.

I’m in and out of grocery and food service dc’s all the time. I see a lot of new drivers look at me like “how can he stand to drive something like that “ I think the same thing looking at these new trucks.

    Holy you are so ill-informed.

All programs out there have a “yard setting” or a “personal setting” which give you the option to move without violation.

Drive time can be re-assigned to another driver, just has to be backed up with proof. Do it all the time when our shop or an outside shop moves the truck. Outside shop, copy of repair bill. Our shop, re-assign to whoever was working on it.

Yeah, but you can't constantly, few times per day every day, use personal setting at the shipper/receiver property. Your logs might not pass an inspection

Well the next question to ask is how long will any carrier accept a pre-2000 truck or how long will any insurance company continue to write an insurance policy for one.

    TallJoe Thanks this.

Already conflicting information about what can be or cannot be done. Reading the very FMCSA book would not help much either.

It could also be about what your ELD provider allow you to do within their app.
In any case moving less than 5 mph around the parking lot is ugly and people better use PC for that.
Trying to collect 2 hours of sleeper at the shipper/receiver might be problematic too with that 5 mph.
    Disconnecting?
It shows on Keeptruckin Administrator dashboard and who knows if they insert that info into the mysterious output file.

    PE_T Thanks this.

So far, i have not heard it being a huge a problem with finding auto liability for independents but I can see this as a problem when someone wants to lease on under someone else's numbers.

That is subjected to DOT cop interpretation during Inspection. They can question the validity of using PC or yard move. Especially, PC. The very lack of red flags on the eld screen does not mean that there are no violations. You thought you did the right thing choosing PC for this or that event but someone with authority over you could say otherwise. With paper logs, of course, there would be nothing shown to interpret.
