My unscientific observation says most pre 2k owners and drivers are experienced folks, therefore way less chances they will get into accident.

Carriers may of cours require to be on ELD or not even allow to lease pre 2k truck.

It’s probably less about being “sheeple”, as you say, and more to do with the fact that few get involved. July of 2012 is when the highway bill passed that had the orders to come up with an electronic logging mandate. And what was it? October 2017 before people started getting concerned? And now it’s almost 2020 and people think if they cry loud enough it will go away.

I don't think that any of that could have been prevented. People could do nothing about it. The funny convoys into DC, evidently did not work. Calling senators and congressmen? Maybe that gave a nice alibi to many of us but let's not be naive that anyone cared to listen. A unified, country wide strike for more than 3 weeks would make impression on some of them...politicians but that's impossible. It would take some violence against strike breakers... In Italy or Greece was it, where they slashed tires of the trucks who tried to run during strike? Too many are actually happy with ELDS ...or HOS as they call it. Well, too much content sheeple, I guess. lol

Your observation is correct- The only worries "We" have is having the newer Gen E-log Group whom know nothing about trucks, Run into us.

The pre 2000 group of drivers get the job done and you have No worries sharing the highway with us- We don't even have to say anything..

Who knows if it could’ve been stopped, but waiting almost 5 years and then panicking wasn’t the answer either. Everyone had the “it’ll never happen” attitude and was waiting for OOIDA’s magic unconstitutional argument to save them.

I can say that since January, running a compliant ELD and doing food grade that I’ve made more money being able to prove exact detention times than what it’s cost me.

I fired my truck up for the first time in 7 days today.

When the e log finally booted up there were 2 messages.

    1) You need to fill out a DVIR.
    2) You have suffered some fatal error, use paper logs.

You know, somehow I cannot possibly see any effective method that would've nipped it in the bud even in the early 2000s when they started to talk about it. Just like I don't see any possible means to prevent speed governor addendum to the ELD mandate now. And now it is the time to say no... I made my voice heard, already, by writing to that congresswomen, I got my alibi about doing something but I somehow feel that she just laughed. The question is what really can be done to kill the speed governor mandate. The real answer is ...nothing.

Well, there were different settings for the AOBRD. At Stevens Transport there was no yard move, and that was because it was unnecessary. The Qualcomm allowed us to move up to 20 mph in sleeper or off duty without triggering driving mode. I think many mega companies had a similar setup. It seems like yard move was introduced because of the ELD mandate where it wouldn’t make much sense to use up your driving time for the day while driving around in private properties like shippers and receivers.

Been watching this thread- Pretty sad when you have to let an electronic device grab a hold of someones life........

These poor guys are even worried to bobtail a truck to the next town...

living in fear and control- Pretty sad.

Frickin' people should of grown a set and not allow this to happen.
