Where did I say I think it should be forced on everyone? Because I never did. Like I said I'm perfectly fine with it. I'm not going to let it ruin my day.

Because it is not about your personal preference, it is about using modern technology to enforce the laws, in the most efficient way possible.
When everything else is electronic now, and paper logs are the biggest source of illegal actions by truck drivers, and there are simple, affordable and wide spread options for implementing elds, there is little reason not to require them.

And yes, it is understood that it will put a burden on the 23 drivers in the country who both enjoy paper logging and actually log it as they did it and run legally, but that is balanced by being able to nanny the rest who endanger lives by log falsification, and increasing efficiency for drivers and carriers alike.

Oh, and with ELD data available, they will be able to better understand Hours of Service effects, and it may actually lead to HOS rules that make more sense, once they have the numbers to back it up.

What you're talking about literally does not exist.

Since when is it OUR responsibility to make enforcement of laws more efficient? Log "falsification" does not in and of itself endanger anyone. Getting written up for a Form and Manner violation is not a safety problem. Yet that is the most commonly written violation. You are being fed a load of horse crap.

None of this has to do with being better able to understand anything. It's about mega corporations getting in bed with govt to give them a competitive advantage. HOS rules as currently written are NOT about safety and neither are ELDs.

The Hos rules are badly flawed, but they are the committee version of an attempt to make things safer, and they do most certainly make things safer, compared to if they had no hos rules.

And it is not only the megas that like the ELDS, a lot of the small family carriers are discovering how effective and efficient they are, as well as a lot of o/o'clock and hotshots, that are going electronic because of the time saving and efficiency benefits.

But that isn't going to change your personal preferences, but laws are not based on personal preference lol

In red, personal preferences. Laws shouldn't be based on personal preferences. Right?

That's just it. Why would a large company (I'm talking even 10 power units and up) want to waste time collecting loose leaf sheets, decipher chicken scratch writing and then either scan them to a computer or file them away? Why not skip the BS and simply just transfer it wirelessly to the log person/safety department and then store it on a hard drive?

Again it matters not to me. I run a 91 model so what do I gain from it?

That wasn't your original point. Are you senile or something?

"Just a question why pray tell are the trucks transporting live animals exempt from E logs no matter the year model of the truck?" - You

That's something you made up. There's no such regulation anywhere in existence
