Unfortunately We Can't. We have too many Foolish Drivers whom don't take their profession all that serious.. They would Make a transition to another field of industry if a better offer arose, AND too many drivers that were in "Other" trades/fields that DO NOT have their Heart in Trucking.

They would jump Ship for many circumstances/including major accidents.

That's Why We Need a form of regulation to keep "Those" Drivers in Line.

I agree though, seasoned Drivers Like myself Do Not need a Form Of Regulation to perform my daily tasks to service my customers.

i'm not calling for a trucking anarchy by any means. but the FMCSA is a bad joke of a department, and its main job has become finding solutions for problems that don't exist. like sleep apnea testing for drivers. look at the criteria for testing. its like an ADD test for your kid. nobody could pass it.

the log book regs, needlessly complicated. and trucking is the only industry that the workers are told when they can rest, for safety's sake. we can't even take a 34 hour break right,we need uncle FMCSA to tell what TIMES the break needs to be.

used to be drivers had to read english. what if we started there.

Well, it is the nature of government and it's various agencies to expand its reach and influence over citizens daily lives. Has been that way since the dawn of time. And the folks who are running it are resistant to changing that normal course. They raise the level of complexity to where it is virtually impossible to get things under control without tearing it all down and starting over. I would rather it didn't come to that. It usually doesn't end well.

I don't need to work that many hours to survive. I don't drive rates down either, lots of assuming. Why should I be forced to E logs. I should have a choice. As far as me breaking the law that's between me and the DOT not me and you.

My first job was hauling steel. I will NEVER do it again. 90 percent of shippers and receivers I would pick up a shift reset give or take. 6 or 7 days to do what I could EASILY do in 4 if those idiots could be bothered to put down their phones and work. I don't think E logs will change them unless people besides drivers start losing real money.

    exactly.

hey, what if all trucks should have a nice bright LED Beacon on the roof, that activates whenever the truck exceeds the speed limit. that way the police could pull you over, write a ticket, and reset the beacon,at their leisure. i mean c'mon, speed limits are laws right?

Perhaps you missed your calling, you should work for the government. We see your sarcasm. But there is going to be a good percentage of these drivers defending the ELD that are going to think that's a good idea. After all a Law is a Law and we must obey!
