hi I’m a relatively new driver
The truck I’m running seems to have an issue with the ELD , I cannot connect to it on my phone, so therefore it doesn’t calculate my driving distance , driving time, etc.
I have been manually entering the info ( on KeepTruckin) , I assume this is not tolerated by DOT and I could be fined, correct? Any ideas on what the issue could be?
Will they really fine you up to 10,000 if there’s a violation or if you #### up your log??
ELD issues / DOT tolerance of issues

your truck's ELD needs a phone to work??
it's not a stand alone unit hooked to the trucks ecm?
use paper logs, until fixed.tscottme Thanks this. -
As noted you should use paper logs until fixed. I think you only have 14 days to get it fixed but I could be wrong. I have been inspected 3 times since the implementation of elogs. 2 of those times they did not ask for my logs or even mention them. The other time he basically just saw that I had an elog and glanced at it, called it good and moved on. Honestly I think most DOT out there are more clueless about how elogs work than we are.

Is your phone hooked up to the ELD module for Keeptruckin with a USB connector? The administrator for your company needs to create an account for you and your truck so your phone will pair up with the ELD. Call Keeptruckin support if you can't figure it out. They're pretty good getting it done for you.
If DOT checks your logs and you don't have a paper back up with the ELD not working, you're screwed. -
You better have your last 8 days on paper logs and pronto fix the ELD fast.
Because OOS is the least of your concerns. -

You only get 8 days, after that you have to apply for an extension. You need to apply for extension before the 8 days are up.
Call KeepTruckin help line. They will figure out what’s going on and get things worked out.Last edited: May 8, 2019
