I really don't think Elogs was created for safety but more for a bottle neck affect.I believe safety is the escape goat. I think this was a political move. But that my view point.
ELD loss of efficiency plus more

Because you let them, that's why.
Put your foot, down, demand detention - I just read in another thread that Prime charges $80/hr detention.
Mechanical breakdown on production line is none ya business. U not the CEO of their outfit. They ordered a truck, u showed up on time, and time is money.
Boy, for the millionth time, I can't wait for ELD to kick in, and watch the recievers/shippers grind to a halt with their b/sJeck Thanks this. -
SheepDog, mhyn and BoostedTeg Thank this.

So I Guess this is real deal then.........
How many of us are still going to wait till the end for a miracle?
Will Trumps administration do anything? Im not betting on it.
Will I Personally Change things? Probably- I'm either going 150 air miles or retiring.
Ya Know,I Remember in Late 1991- Everyone on the Radio was getting frightened over the new "CDL" License that was going into effect april 1st 1992-
Ended up being not a big deal because it didn't affect our daily routines....
This However,(ELD's) Will certainly Affect how we work.its going to pretty much force many of us to restrategize our daily routines. -
What seems to be wrong here is thinking this -
- Shippers care.
- Shippers will change their habits and needs to conform to the truck's.
- Elogs is the real problem.
- We are going to be rescued by Trump and he is going to fix it so we have a choice.
- The per mile guys will go back to a profitable means of making money.
That said, I hate to be the naysayer here but ... the truth is that elogs are not the issue, the system is the problem and the system needs to be changed. I see the per mile guys suffering because it is all about miles and until the rate go up to a reasonable level, we are all stuck.
Most of this is the problem with hos, not with elogs and I feel we need to return back to the hos that allowed flexibility - the 1962 version of it.SheepDog, JimmyWells, tech10171968 and 2 others Thank this. - Shippers care.

BoostedTeg Thanks this.

As a whole, I don't think I've lost much productivity because of the elogs but I was running legal on paper also. Now compared to 10-20 years ago, I've lost a lot of productivity but like I said I quit running like that. -
New Walmart policy dings truckers, shippers for late loads — and early onesBoostedTeg Thanks this.
