Eld relay not reading truck movement shut down please help

    The he11 isnt applicable. His eld malfunctions go get ur load delivered on the 8 day rule set.

    Yes you are. 2 different things. You're required to have 8 days of blank logs with you in case the eld goes down. Just because both that and the 8 times in 30 days both have the number 8 in them does not mean they are related, connected or interchangeable.

    He's even more wrong as the 8 days is for the carrier to fix or get an extension. There actually is nothing in the regs about how long a driver can use paper with a broken ELD.

    The 8 times in 30 day is an exemption, just like engine model year, tow away drive away, 150 air miles. The 8 days that you are allowed to log paper is if the eld malfunctions. You can do this even if you are not eligible for the 8 times in 30 days exemption.

    Why is that so hard for you to understand? The eld regulations have a provision to use paper logs if the device malfunctions. There are even provisions to use it longer than 8 days.

    Just so you know, here is the regs so you can educate yourself instead of continuing to be ignorant for the regulations.

    Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (eCFR)

    §395.34 ELD malfunctions and data diagnostic events.

    (a) Recordkeeping during ELD malfunctions. In case of an ELD malfunction, a driver must do the following:
    (3) Continue to manually prepare a record of duty status in accordance with §395.8 until the ELD is serviced and brought back into compliance with this subpart.

    (d) Motor carrier requirements for repair, replacement, or service. (1) If a motor carrier receives or discovers information concerning the malfunction of an ELD, the motor carrier must take actions to correct the malfunction of the ELD within 8 days of discovery of the condition or a driver's notification to the motor carrier, whichever occurs first.

    So, instead of continuing to show your ignorance, why not read a regulation or two.

    BTW; the 8 day in 30 is all the way up in 395.8
    §395.8 Driver's record of duty status.
    (iii)(A) A motor carrier may require a driver to record the driver's duty status manually in accordance with this section, rather than require the use of an ELD, if the driver is operating a commercial motor vehicle:
    (1) In a manner requiring completion of a record of duty status on not more than 8 days within any 30-day period;
