I don't know if I agree totally man. I run reefers/dry van OTR now. When I have a reefer load, I just deliver on break. That's what has to be done with reefers because of the delivery times, plus many places will hold reefer drivers up for hours on end so I figured when I started pulling reefers that parking at the customer (if possible) and delivering on break was the only to do it. Pulling reefer requires constant adjustments, but I'd rather pull a reefer than any other trailer

Fine no more "bro." Lol. Anyway, I've conceded that the "beat the clock" mentality has caused accidents. As far as saving lives, well they have enough of a sample size to say that propaganda. Whether it's true or not, I cant say. The data recorded is a one size fits all number. It just passes a narrative that the authors of these articles want people to buy into.

See productive discussions, that’s the whole point of these forums. And I’m glad people are participating. I know drivers that would never go past their legal time even on paper logs. And I know a lot of the big companies have been using AOBRD for some time now. However the eld mandate has not proven to save lives as promised and I don’t think it should be forced on all the owner operators. One thing for sure, in this industry it isn’t one size fits all. We need flexibility, there’s just to much variations of the trade and how each company operates. The people who are making the rules for the sake of public saftey, likely never spent a day trucking and that’s a problem in my opinion. No real world experience just “scientific data” to go by. I was once placed oos for a false log. Showed off duty the day prior but had a BOL showing I did 1 pick up. After taking my forced 10hr reset I woke up tired at 2am to finish my trip (3hrs from home) when I was placed oos I just started my driving day a few hours prior and was wide awake and couldn’t get fall asleep until I was tired again 10hrs later. Makes sense I guess?

I don't think, elogs creates are destroys safety. They saw a handful of fatalities and just made a law. They have an obligation to so many people, in and out of trucking, so FMCSA had to do something. I don't so much blame the FMSCA for doing this. I really blame the handful of truckers that gave FMSCA the ammunition to do this. People don't recognize everyone when they're doing good, but they will use a couple of bad ones to make changes.

Congress mandated the ELDs. The FMCSA was required by law to require the ELDs and cannot decide to stop eld usage. That would have to come from new legislation passed by Congress.

In 1934 when the Dept of Labor instituted a 70 hour work week for truckers, overtime and other things were excluded.

Our Country is big enough that it will take a solo that long to load, drive and unload at the other end.
