    No way.

Return back to the previous hos which was changed in 1962.

This was 10 hours drive time with 15 hours on duty and 8 in the sleeper with an 18 hour duty cycle.

This worked for years, it was also flexible to allow drivers to determine what they needed to do.

And it didn't have all the exemptions to make it work.

Why can't they plan on giving drivers more time. So when we get stuck in traffic, we still have time to do the run. I'm pretty good at trip planning and I can tell you a real driving time or miles for the day is about 500 miles a day. If we plan all loads at that speed, drivers won't be racing the clock or worried about the traffic accident. You can even stop anytime you want, because the load has extra time built into the trip. You might not even run out of hours 3 hour from home. We can hopefully average more them 500 miles a day. So Every day we are not pushing the log book to the maximum. So at the end of the week maybe we only worked 65 hours and you have the 5 extra hours to make it home.

I think their is a solution maybe it 450 miles a day or 550 miles a day load planning. Look at 500 miles a day or 24 hours that's an average speed of 21MPH

14 is too long- My body cant do that anymore- I try to stay around the 10-12 total for the day.

I live load everything- So lets say I unload at 7-8 am empty at 10- I MAY or MAY not pickup the same day- depends how I feel- If I do Pickup same day- Ill load then hit the first truckstop.....

When I was young n dumb- I was forced to Unload-Reload then pound out 4-500 miles- 15-16 hour day.....Forget that noise anymore

Ok so 500 miles a day vs 600 miles a day. After 5 days, losing 100 miles a day. I have already lost out on another load by the end of the week. And at .50 cents a mile that is potentionally 250 gross dollars a week extra i could be making. That is alot of money in todays industry. Ive said it over and over if we were all paid what we should be making for the amount of skill and risk that is involved in this profession nobody would give a #### if the logbook was paper or electronic... This should be a 6 figure job to start and go up from there. We risk our lives everyday to provide for the same people that put us in danger each and everyday. I dont know to much people that would care what kind of logbook they had if they was getting paid what theyre worth.... But when u have a device that limits the amount of miles and time u can legally use, on top of that a wage system that hasnt changed a bit since the 80s u get what exists right now. Guys racing that extra miles against the clock to make that extra 50 dollars. Putting everybody in danger along the way. Just my 2 cents

Im too used to the 10 hour run. Grab a bit of meal, rest and back out in 8. None of these current rules mucking up the works. I feel lucky in a way having been able to run as I did prior to 2002 back then.

The railroad on the other hand they get 16 hours to be somewhere. At the 15:59th minute and second they halt, set brakes and get dogcatcher to fetch them to hotel. It might be days before the whole thing gets moving again. Once in a while I can hear em chugging at lope idle feeding air across the county when it's not windy.

I get that, my reason for the 16hrs is because it offers flexibility. You don’t have to work the full 16hrs and if your boss tries to force you, maybe it’s time to find a new company. I’m a o/o running my own #s so I don’t have to worry about that. Being on paper l usually find my self getting tired after 14-16 hrs and could never sleep more then 6hrs. Yes I’m young so it may be different for someone else. The reason i say give us 16hrs to do what ever is because most people won’t use up the full 16 anyways and those super truckers that still want to do 1000 miles a day. Well they more then likely are running their own glider truck on paper and still doing so. Before I got into trucking I worked in a warehouse operating heavy equipment in small areas and they would work us like dogs. Crazy overtime, actually a coworker one time wrecked his pick up when he fell asleep driving home after a long shift. 16hrs means no one is racing the clock because by the time that 16hrs is up your more then happy to go to bed. 8hr reset makes sense to me because like I’ve said I could never sleep more then 8hrs anyways and usually only sleep about 6 and would have to sit in my truck with my **** in my hand for the remaining 4hrs so to say. 8hrs reset is nice even if you don’t use the full 16hrs. And I’ve never heard of someone getting a violation for resting longer then required, so if you need 10 take 10.

The old way of driving was so good. You were told to get the load delivered on time no matter what happens. You could not call and say I'm out of hours or tired or they took to long to load.
