Hey guys! I'm new in the business of CDL. Sometimes I'm screwed up with ELD. Like it can start recording driving after hours when I'm parking on the truckstop etc. We have ELD department but I don't trust them much. I don't want their corrections. Once they edited my logbook, send me request and after I approved it I noticed that I have 5 more driving hours. Looks like they trick the system. They say it's ok, we know what we are doing, no our driver has experienced a problem with DOT. But I'm very concerned about it. Also today I called a company to apply for a job. They say they pay 60c/mile. It's for company drivers on dry van (!!!) But you have to drive at least 4000m/week. I said thx no because it's more or less clear that you would have to cheat with ELD. Then I called the other company. They offers even more 90(!) c/mile. And I said to myself, well why not?! I desperately need money ((( Whether I join one of those companies or stay with the current employer I might have some problems with ELD. So my question is what are the penalties I might face and how risky is it?? Thank you! P.S. I'd very appreciate useful links as well ))

4000 miles a week is possible on ELD if you are running clear across the country and back each week with a truck that will do at least 67 mph. (Thats what I'm governed at, and my best week is 4254 miles in 7 days.) But you have to be very good at managing your time, and you have to have very minimal delays at shippers and receivers. I average about 3700 miles every 8 to 10 days. (Thats including 1.5 to 3 days at home) I'm currently on day 14 of a 2 week back to back run and will have run about 7500 miles in that time by time I finish in the early morning tomorrow...

This is where ive been in the last 14 days...

Started empty in Idahofalls, ID... loaded in Rigby, ID... Unloaded in Winchester, KY... Loaded in Bowling Green, KY... Unloaded in Clearfield, UT... Loaded in Hamer, ID... Unloaded in Indianapolis, IN... Loaded in Columbia City, IN... Unload in Ogden, UT... Finish in Idahofalls, ID

As far as penalties for violations on your logs... It depends on what you do. But can pretty much count on 10 hours OOS for running over your hours or falsifying your logs. If you make a habit of that you will become unemployable as a driver very quickly.

I run a tight ship when it comes to my logs... But I know hiw to correctly and legally log wierd stuff like Ag. Exempt, split berth, adverse conditions, ect. In the last 3 years I have had my logs inspected 6 times... Not one violation has ever been found in my logs upon inspection. I will admit that due to things beyond my control I have a few times (4 maybe 5 times) run over my hours by up to 26 mins... But I dont usually do it intentionally, and I dont make it a habit.

Would that be 26 mins over your 11? Or 14?

My best month ever since elogs was 14600. Home every weekend for a 36 hr reset (cdn). Wanna make money? Shut the left door and go to work. That holds true for elog or paper log. Nuff said.

Thats about what my best month has been as well. 12k to 13k each month is pretty easy to get, and still be home for 2 or 3 days after every 6 to 8 days on the road.

Many thanks for the compliment. I run hard, I run legal... Every wasted minute is another minute I have to be out on the road, and a few mins here and there can cause even bigger delays elsewhere. Everyday I'm on the road is one more day I dont get see my children grow.
