I wish that was true. One of our competitors got busted for falsified logs and it cost him big time. A former driver dropped the dime on them and when DOT showed up they knew exacrly what they were looking for,
He paid by the hour and when the DOT guys compared the payroll records (Yes, they had a subpoena) with the hours on the log books they found some huge differences. They compared the pay records and the log books to scale sheets and fuel records .
I don't know exactly how much the fines were but I know the guy had to sell some equipment to cover them. He also had to find a new insurance carrier and put up with having the driver's logs inspected every time they crossed a scale.

 

That would be why you fuel up at the places that give a handwritten old school receipt, no time stamp. Don't hit anybody and you don't have to worry about "The Hammer" boogeyman.

 

If you know the spaces go away between 3pm and 5pm you need to park at 230pm. Poor planning on your part. At least that's what the ELD huggers will tell you

 

While I get that for flagrant violations, a guy being 10-15 minutes from the yard occassionally is a different story. Less than 7 minutes is rounding.

I actually get the best sleep on the ramp. Plus not ramps are dangerous. Some are busier than others. Over time you learn which ones are less dangerous. To me, it's just about finding somewhere to park.and go to sleep. I am.not all that picky as to where. As long as I don't get bothered, it doesn't matter to me

 

Who gives a hand written receipt anymore? I mean are we in 1975?
