Not all, I had nice shiny equipment and drivers who took pride in them rides. Some of my customers liked the fact we took pride in the equipment and my drivers didn’t show up in rolling #### boxes or smelled like a camels ###. Sometimes it isn’t about compensating for something. Some of like nice things and don’t strictly look at price tags.

Everyone know this....if you can buy it, so can everyone else. So how does that make you custom? -
To all you haters of chicken lights and chrome and such, you accuse these guys of wanting everyone to look at them and of being foolish business people. You are so far off base it’s pathetic. It’s called pride. My trucking career start off with CFCC, Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation. A privately held family owned venture started from humble beginnings. Mr. C. Grier Beam had this kind of pride though it manifested itself on his trucks differently than chrome and lights. Up until the very end every tractor had a PAINTED three color scheme of red black and white. That meant that every time a truck with body damage was fixed it had to be painted not once but three times. the trailers were hand lettered with the company’s name and all trucks were grass burners because Mr. Beam didn’t want his nice looking trailers sooted up from exhaust smoke. These were extras he didn’t HAVE to do but wanted to do because of the pride he had in his company, his employees and the service he offered. This company grew to the 4 th largest LTL carrier in the nation till purchased by ABF. Mr Beam was not alone. Most companies had distinct, though unnecessary, liveries. By your reasoning all those people were fools for going the extra mile to make their rigs look nice. It may add nothing to the bottom line but who cares. We could do with a bit more pride in this industry, the race to the milquetoast all white sparsely decaled Tupperware torpedos of most fleet trucks is depressing

Reading your post to @Ruthless .. I had to laugh..everybody has their own taste I guess but a piece of bent diamond plate for a front bumper is not cool looking by my stardards in taste.. but if thats what suits your taste buds more power too ya .. in fact I like seeing things like that cause I snap pictures of it and send them to my friends so we can all get a good laugh and comment about how stupid it looks ..
It also keeps us Motivated and in check with our taste in class
It all circles around to the old saying you get what you pay for.. and 800.00 for a front bumper don't get you much for class .. but it will get you alot of laughs and looks
Since you started the this weiner measuring contest about friends ..I may not have a large circle of friends .. but the friends I have are very good at what they do when it comes to fabricating or building parts for trucks
I'am pretty sure its a circle you know nothing aboutLast edited by a moderator: Nov 10, 2023
