    eli5 = explain like i'm 5

    i want a cb radio to bs with other drivers, but this forum is intimidating. antennas? mods? watts? is there one i can simply buy, plug in to 12v/inverter and it just works fairly well with respectable range? i'm not looking to spend too much. prefer the toyota corolla of cb radios, if you will.

    Cobra 29, a single 5ft fiberglass antenna, truck specific mount, single coax, and an external speaker.
    Less than 200$ for everything if you shop around, and sufficient for daily life on the road.

    You forgot the swr meter. but if hes just looking to #### chat whit near by drivers and not wanting to spend a lot of money, he could by a cobra 25 for around 75 bucks.

    Go to a good cb shop and get a good used radio that has been peaked and tuned.
    Get a noise cancelling mike
    Get some coax and an antanae
    Let the cb shop set the swrs.
    Probably cost less than 200bucks.
    Tell us what route you're on and we'll tell you a good cb shop along the way.
