I hear ya. From what you're describing it sounds like you were going to be on their "regional" side. Where would you have been hauling out of?

I’m not sure. The only place the guy on the phone really mentioned is pipe, out of Tulsa. He never said the name of the pipe yard or anything. He said the home every ten days or ten to fourteen days whatever it was that it had said on the ad was for the people who lived a ways from Texas. But even if they do short hauls, that doesn’t necessarily mean short or little money. I worked for a small company leased to LTI way back in 2008, and he , the owner of the small company, always said if the load was going more than 500 miles tops, that he wasn’t making nothing off of it. He made money. Had trucks and his terminal up until the day he died. There was only one customer he really went beyond 500 miles for, and it was by a hell of a lot more than 500 miles but that particular customer paid dearly. So short haul really doesn’t bother me as much as the representation being made by the company of what you will make. $1200-$1500 a week, naturally I’m going to expect the lower end every week of 1200. Long as my home time is what they say it will be in that scenario all is well I guess.

Right on driver. I actually bombarded the fella I had been in contact with, with numerous questions today. The process went so quickly yesterday I didn't really get a chance to ask specific questions, but that's what I decided to do today, since I wasn't able to make it to orientation. I can say that after basically grilling the guy (who was more than cooperative by the way,) I've decided to give them a shot. With the answers I got, all of which are in writing, I feel pretty confident about it at this point.

I'll be taking off to orientation on Monday, and I'll be running by Wednesday. If all I do is what has been described to me, the gig isn't bad at all, all things considered. I've talked to plenty of carriers, and know plenty of drivers that paranoia when speaking to possible trucking jobs I come across, has become second nature, due to the sheer fact that the industry as a whole can be pretty shady.

I did ask quite a few questions through email and text that would make most recruiters or HR folks, pick up the phone and call to answer said questions, because they fear putting something in writing, that they know is bs. However that wasn't the case, so I'm optimistic. I even pointed out a couple of negative things I found online, and sure enough, he was upfront and willing to talk about said issues, followed by what they have done, or are doing to correct the couple of issues I brought up. I'll certainly report back after I run at least a week or so to let you know how it's going.

Went home at the end of day 2 of orientation because my truck wasn't ready and I didn't want to sit in a hotel for 4 days when I was only a couple of hours from home. A day later I was informed that I was "too far" from the yard where I was supposed to park the truck everyday for this specific "home daily" account, and was offered "regional" which isn't really regional there at Nationwide. It's OTR at the end of the day. So I declined. Decently nice folks, but a bit scatter brained.

I was wondering before I drive down there. I was gone do or anyway. I been lied to so much since I got into trucking over 14 years ago it's hard to trust what any company says lol. But I was told 1400 - 1700 a week bring home, sounds good but suspect.

Those numbers are accurate as far as I know. Another guy on this forum started about the same time as I did and he dealt with some bs but he's doing alright.
