35 congressmen put out a press release of 200 plus regulations they want changed or eliminated. No mention of specific bills to force the regulatory change.

It took almost a year from Congress taking action to the "repeal" of the 34 hour restart provisions. Unless the courts put a stay on it eld conversion must continue as planned for all those required to be compliant by December 2017. Once installed I think a majority of the mid size carriers will keep them resulting in a de facto eld mandate.

I take it you think the ELD & proposed speed limiter mandate(s) are a good thing and should remain in place?

These 35 congressman have submitted a proposal to the new administration requesting a review and change of certain aspects of MAP21 (however it can be done) based on the cost and burden to businesses. That's a good thing, right?

No.... just that 35 congressmen is hardly a dent. Now when 300 congressman and senators are on board, then I might actually think there is something going to be done. Heck, the flat tax proposal has more congressmen behind it than these 35 for rescinding ELD, and the flat tax has gone nowhere. And it doesn't take much brain power to realize that what these guys say they want to the press or on a twitter feed does not mean what they will actually do.

Truck drivers are viewed like guns, we aren't the problem but they can "regulate" us to make them feel safer.

I run a small trucking company with 7 road drivers. The guy with the least experience has been driving for over 10 years. My mechanic, our warehouse manager, and myself used to be road drivers, and still are when needed. We have tested several different elogs and all have been full of bugs. They log drivers on and off while sleeping, driving, etc. If the truck moves at all it logs them as driving, with no way to edit it (pulling up after fueling, moving the truck at shipper/ receiver to load/ unload, etc). Most DOT bears have no clue about elogs and are just as confused as we are, except they can and will write tickets if they think they can get away with it.

Because the car & SUV drivers make the laws and your big truck scares them almost so much they might put the phone down.
I submit the problem isn't an HOS problem. The problem is they keep "fixing" the HOS. As I said before this 14 hour clock was created, the new HOS won't fix anything they will just change our problem from the things we already know about to new problems we haven't figured out yet.

The Iron Law of government is they don't fix problems, they change your current problems for new problems.

What's the -20 on a capitalist nation? We haven't been one of those for maybe 60 years. And the last Baby Boomer will be choking the life out of what's left of this economy as his heart monitor goes flatline.

He asked and instead of getting good informative responses he is getting lectures by truck drivers that think they are curing cancer or rocket scientists above reproach. People need to get over themselves. This is a low skill job that requires almost zero education.

The whole "you've never done the job so you can't know" is a bunch of crap. I've never been a fry cook or a janitor but I'm fairly confident i know how to sweep a floor and toss some fries in vegetable oil
