IMG_0713.JPG I actually kept the poly foam insert that came with the tablet case to hold its shape for transport. Cut it in two pieces and used it as a shock absorber. Elmers glued it to the case. Sticks fine as long as you don't pull the case off the dash too quick. The Velcro glue seems to be giving up.

The little case has a built in keyboard and a picture frame stand. It's actually a pretty sweet deal. I might get another one.

So the velcro glue isn't sticking to the foam? Or is the velcro glue not sticking to the dash?

The foam isn't a solid, smooth surface, and that reduces the effectiveness of the glue. You'd have better results with the velcro directly to the case. The hook & loop fastener actually does a decent enough job isolating a lot of the vibrations, so the extra foam isn't really necessary.

Spacing too. There's a minor obstruction on the dash, and if the case was flush against the dash the plug wouldn't clear the air vents.

I had just unboxed the thing and was playing with it and said "if only I could space this thing 2/10ths of an inch." And the packaging foam was right there.

    EURIKA!

I figured I'd give it a try and if it worked? Great! If not? Drawing board.

Well it worked fine about 5 months and then the weather started getting hot. I was comfortable leaving the tablet mounted all the time and in the locked truck over any layovers. So I guess at some point it got over 90-100 in the truck. (Closed truck, no ventilation, direct sunlight) and the tablet began to sloooooowly slide down the dash.

I didn't notice it at first, but over the course of a week it moved about a quarter inch a day. Then it finally gave up.

I'm far from finished with this approach. I'm going to try better glues, taking the tablet off at night, keeping the truck cooler.

It's working at 75% of expectation, so I think there's room to get it right.
