Actually using the "emergency exceptions" to part 395 is something that is part n' parcel with elogs...
With paper logs, one could almost always "find a way" to make things work out - i.e., falsify one's logbook in an innocuous way so that you didn't have to resort to using the emergency provision. With the electronic nanny keeping an eye on us, its a different story.
As to paper logs being preferable to elogs... well, we wouldn't be having this discussion if everyone kept to the letter of the law.
