eLogs are an odd subject. The technology behind them is almost 25 years old, and should be proven. however very few have taken advantage of them so very little is known about how to actually use them and follow what has become standard on a paper log. Enforcement is pretty much treating them like a walkman, even though they are essentially an iPod.

Its part of the QualCom website. They have log ins that get you to the actual Log. I have signed on in the truck on my lap top and it looks just like my QualCom Screen. Ask your company. they will give you the URL.

Only one of those logs is legal.
When we were training on the E Logs We kept paper as well. I actually ran out my 70 on paper one week but still had 2 hours to drive on the E logs. This was logging the paper off of time stamps from E Logs.
I asked my company about it and they said the paper log was the official one until I was 100% on E Log. -

I understand what you are saying , but which one is legal and why ?
Is there fmcsa policy to clarify and verify ? -
I posted the rules about this issue from the FMCSA website above.childerscarl1 Thanks this.

There you go right there, that is the answer from the FMCSA. I didnt think you could use both at the same time but obviously you can.

thank you nashvilledriver for posting that , I thought it was legal since roehl has all there new drivers log both at the same time, so if the e-log does have a problem they will know how to run a proper paper log and recap.

I believe this concerns times your E log might be down. Say it works for 3 days doesn't work for 2 then begins working again. We are told to immediately switch over to paper if the truck unit isn't working. There is still only one valid log. I now don't run paper unless the unit is down which hasn't happened yet.Dave_AL Thanks this.

Hi okay after all that , i understand both of them, but my quistion is, i write down my miles when i first start too drive, now i have e logs , and it let say for example, it's 5 miles over what i wrote off the speedometer, which would i go by, cause i use this too avg my speed for that day.
