O/O.........
I am leased on to a local company with a total of 4 trucks now. I USED to be leased on with Farm2Fleet until first part of February. -
We used Qualcomm, I liked it. Keeps people a little more honest. I liked telling dispatch "sorry, the QC says I don't have enough time for that run to the other side of the country" especially when I'm headed the opposite way for home time! 😜

I will add.
If you feel that your company needs the control of elogs, eobr, etc. Feel free to use them. But for those of is that don't, then why should we be forced to pay for an expense and service we don't need or want.
I have yet to see eobr make a company safer. The ones I see speeding I. A city are all megas proudly displaying eobr stickers on their trucks. Drivers trying to make up time in governed 62 mph trucks in a 55 speed zone. -
So YOU only have YOU, to worry about, that is what I am getting at. I don't think that I have to micro manage everything my drivers do, but our business model is a constant trip of P/U's and Deliveries.
So knowing where my trucks are, vs guessing where they are, or calling them all the time just makes more sense.
As it stands right now my drivers probably have as much hands off freedom as any one fleet in this industry. They have numerous options, from changing routes due to weather/traffic, changing or moving P/U and Del. times, 34 hr resets, when they want to be home etc. etc.
But EVERYTHING, going forward is going to be scrutinized for maximum proficiency The costs of running a truck are NOT going down. The cost of fuel is NOT going down, the cost of taxes and running a business in general is NOT going down.
The cost of Insurance is NOT going down, and driver wages are NOT going down. Unfortunately our freight rates HAVE been going down or at least NOT going up for some time.
The solution is to minimize over run miles, maximize hours available, be in the best position for the best paying freight, in order to do this, I NEED to know, where my trucks are at, AND what do my drivers available hours look like.
Stanbrian991219 Thanks this. -
Then use what you need to manage expenses.
Gutting a trucks power is hurting your fuel mileage. Hiring drivers not using the self-disipline to drive responsibility is hurting both your fuel and maintenance budgets.
I have.a better business background that you imagine. Drop me a line if you care to.
I think we could both learn from each other.
I don't care to think inside the box for solutions. They don't pay off like they should. -
Just make sure they are logged on duty when they are scanning .

I agree, but you are preaching to the choir, our trucks will run 72 MPH AND because we are NEVER over 50,000 will pass 99% of the trucks out there in the hills.
Just make sure you keep in mind that I have driven all over this country for most of my life, I have always made a good living in this business.
I am NOT some second gen kid that walking into the business at the top spot because I was somebody's son. I started this company from scratch with one truck.
Dispatching our trucks for what they haul presents some unique problems that MOST dispatchers NEVER have to deal with. For whatever reason, I seem to be the best qualified for putting these loads together.
This and ONLY this are the reasons that I am now behind a desk instead of OTR.

Eobr doesn't suddenly make form and manner violations go away.
I saw that last year when I was driving on them. I can't even say it makes them easier to find. Because the company still had.people.reviewing even the elogs the Qualcomm created.
It's when we feel we no longer have anything to learn is when it's time to.walk away. -
EOBR, does give you nice straight lines that can not be mis-interpreted upon DOT insp. they also, If I am to understand correctly will pinpoint the location of the stop, so there are no mistakes on a driver thinking he was one place when he was really down the road a ways.
I was also under the impression that EOBR will keep an accurate log of hours available for the day/week/sleeper, yes it seems some of my drivers have a math problem.
I never said I had nothing to learn, I AM trying to learn, that is why I am looking into this program to see if it will make sense for us.
If I NEVER try anything different in this ever changing landscape, we would not have lasted this long.Last edited: Feb 26, 2013
