I see this issue in July becoming a very big issue for most. The ones with eobr's I guess will get some alert message or whatever.
Embarrased to ask a HOS question at this stage, but....

It takes 15. to fuel, 15. to load & tarp anything, And we avg 43 MPH. We all have excess time on our hands. We blow it playing Video games. Eating greasy food, then leave. I talked to a Senator once, that's the way they see us. I don't agree with that.
RAGE 18 Thanks this. -

I use http://www.driversdailylog.com/
Have been for 3 years now. No more hand logs for me. -
Starting July 1 2013, you need 30 minutes OFF duty at or before 8 hours of on duty/driving time.

Don't be embarrassed to ask questions like that. If you were to have another driver say anything or give you grief over any questions you most likely have a know-it-all and his or her driving record reflects his or her attitude. Here's a good example that I experienced and it proved that learning is an on-going item.
This driver worked for ARCO out west. ARCO was the only job he ever had and he started as a loader. When he had over 20 years safe driving the company switched and had us run logs books for the out of state runs. He had over 20 years of driving an 80,000lbs truck in the city loaded with gasoline. Just a few more years he would be in a short listed group and be considered a legend. He didn't have so much as a scratch on the truck and never a ticket. But he never filled out a log book. He came to me and asked how to do it because he knew I had OTR experience. I filled one out using his station that he was going to as a example. He said great and took the example and signed his name on it and off he went. This guy knew all the tricks of the trade and every driver at that terminal looked at him with respect for his professionalism. But he never had to fill a log book in all his 20 years. So it's impossible to know all there is to know about trucking. You can come on this site with the ease and be ensured that you'll get an answer and not stupid remarks because you didn't know something. -
@Gashauler. I sure do wish more truckers had a positive attitude like you. It's kinda refreshing.

My situation was a little different. I have been running logs for two years and a few extra months. I misunderstood and luckily the error was on the side of being legal. I thought it was 11 hours of "on duty" service...

Ok been looking at this a while--and I have couple of questions--and I got a feelin Gashauler will know this
First is for local or short haul(110 air miles)--I understand that hours can b kept in lieu of logs--BUT--the guidance continues to refer to a 12 hour rule? Can't find where a local driver is limited to 12 vs 14?
Also the continuous line 4 after 11--it is/has been my understanding that 14 is 14 is 14--all line 3&4 work has a 14 hour window--but if I am reading posts correctly--folks are sayin after driving 11 or combo of anything b4 14 and drivin 11--you can continue to work PAST 14 as long as you do not go back to driving w/out 10 off--I understand what y'all are saying--just have never heard of it--nor can find it in the regs,,,,
So if possible w/out a lot of (well yknow) could someone PLEASE clear this up and show the regs?
Thanks
