I had allowed emotions to cloud over my thinking. I would want a doctor to tell me whats what. Not a ex. I don't mind the ex sharing something however something as serious as this needs a doctor involved.

I also would really hate to consider that the EX may be thinking to engineer a situation on false pretenses to cause someone to lose gainful employment. Post marriage is a really dangerous time for the couple and frankly a percentage are driven by very strong motives or powerful feelings to do things not normally done.

Me and the ex get along just fine no bad blood between us so there would be no need for false claims. And the we both have been talking to the drs for awhile about this surgery and this risks that it came with. This was something we both could agree was nothing to argue about. Ima tell you story about my son and what he's been through so far. We never really thought this could or would have been something permanent(the speech) took him to the drs at a young age didnt recommend the surgery until he got older. So during this time my son is growing up with a speech problem he would get so frustrated and start to cry cause only me and his mom could understand him. It was like that constant just seeing the emotional pain he was going through hurt everyday and everyone. We tried every speech therapy and old remedys and nothing. He started going to school and would get picked on by the kids eventually i got a call from the ex and the principal telling me what was going on. They said things to him like "You Should Go Fix Yourself" Or " Why do you sound like a dummy" mind you he was only 6 at that time. He was moved from schools 2 times so far because it was just constant bullying she would put him on the phone and he would be crying and since im his dad and i can somewhat hear what he's trying to tell me. Saying that he needed to to be fixed that he wanted to be a normal kid. He was and is normal he can write read, the only thing is he can't talk and it frustrates him and i dont want my kids to be depressed all the time and for sure as hell excuse my language wouldnt want him to be one of those kids from suicide commercials about bullying. That is why we had agreed if it came to a time where he was able to get the surgery than so be it. Its scary and the last thing i want is to be on the road while my sons on a table wondering where his dad is. So yes dr confirmed it i heard it we both did and now i know where i will be at that day.

Ty for sharing. Trucking offers nothing and cannot and will not keep you in the truck on days like that. Employer might engineer some way of firing but frankly they can stick it. If I was there to witness that surgery it would be done in spirit.

I worry that with the information presented in your son's history that he might have taken some damage. for a human to be frusterated enough to cry its a bad thing.

I don't know why I did not offer this as a work around for your family. Sign Language. Its a total living language and you will have the foundation of it in a few hours and enough mastery within several nights to hold your end of a conversation. If you were around deaf long enough you will have mastery in a month. However Sign Language is a living language ever changing in small ways and carries regional differences. Based on Galludet's ABC I can have a converstation with anyone in the world today regardless of their nationality and history. And there is usually a way to transfer information both ways so that we evolve and take communication to a another level FAST.

We are also at a point in techology with Sorenson mobile that its possible to converse in signs to a smart phone camera facing you and the Relay will convert that to spoken english for other party and convert their response to sign language for you. (They don't make phones that big, sign language on a screen is problematic for me)

And we are trying to get to where you can "Command" a computer with sign language instead of a keyboard. Once your computer maps what you are where you are etc... it will become possible to do things with it that has not been done yet in the real world or in battle.

(Why I don't evolve and my my posts way shorter... //gift to those who like to tease me)

I went over board a little bit regarding voice. I'll share a history on my end.

in the 60's I was considered retarded waiting for official diagnosis to send me to Springfield Maryland as a ward of state to be warehoused for the rest of my 90 years or whatever. (You are not free) because I was not speaking. I chose in those years to simply SHUT UP. Not just shut up absolutely SHUT. UP. that way the adults leave me alone so I can think. (HA.. much good that did)

One doctor had me playing with his toys, called my name. Discovered Im deaf. Threw me into a sound proof room and indeed, this one is deaf. But the lights are definitely on upstairs just working on a quiet level other than Adults. (Duh...)

The series of schoolings I was shuttled to and from is beyond scope of this topic. Except one. Md School for the Deaf in Columbia Maryland. Off rte 100 near 29. Anyway. Week one there with nothing but deaf kids I knew all of them and their language. First month I had all of it. Month three I met my speech therapist who will do one thing for 4 years. Teach me to talk. Then talk properly. (HA... what about that profanity and pillow talk first eh? oh no... learn Apple. Baseball, School etc)

After 4 years I had two languages. Much good they are when youre in what is essentially Mexico on the border. So you collect a little Spanish. You dig out the high school french and metric for Canada. And maybe a touch of German for the Amish country. So if the waitress says to cook Zu viel essen while point at you, you take it to mean literally too many food. Or you eat too much. Hope you have the money to pay em =) /snarky.

Good luck, good hunting. I have a feeling there will be a million words out of that boy. And if there is any bullies giving him abuse about it, send him to me. I'll show them humility when they get that taken out of their system.

I've been at Swift nearly nine years. I don't know of anyone there that would not bend over backwards to make sure you were with your son when you need to be there.

Most problems people have with Swift are of their own making. But I have seen nothing except helpful in all this time.
Don't fret over it. Just explain it and tell them what you need. They will work with you.
