This is one of those rare situations I'm going to use my filter. The Gestapo will have me carted away for re-education if I don't.

Idle time really plugs up the DPF if I'm not mistaken.

With my new position starting soon, I will be driving a bit less than before, so I have time to deal with other stuff. Plus I have been hiring, drivers, and a part time mechanic.
Come summer I'll need additional drivers again. -
I've heard the same thing.
Thankfully our trucks get very little idle time. -
Just drive em. Keep idle time to a minimum and clean them about every 250,000 miles or whatever hours that will equate to. I’ve had one for 120,000 miles now and it’s given zero problems. I think the worst days are behind us on the epa emissions problems.

So the DEF filter should be around $100. The place I go that cleans up the DPF and DOC costs about $250 for the service to do both at the same time. I'm not sure what they'd charge to clean an EGR cooler, you can clean them yourself with Simple Green. New gaskets and clamps for the DPF I'd guess around $200, maybe another $100 if you need to remove the turbo to access the EGR. So if you take the time to remove all the components yourself I'd guess it shouldn't be more than 4 hours to remove and 4 hours to reinstall, you'd probably end up spending around $1000 USD. If you take it to the shop, you're looking at like 12 hours of labor or wtf ever they would charge. This is based on Volvo's VED engines, so it might differ a bit for the X15. The good thing about the X15 is that Cummins are serviced basically everywhere, so if you wanted a shop to do this for you, you'll have a better chance of finding one you can trust at a more affordable price.
