    a) Post your location (metro area), and you'll get more specific suggestions.
    b) Search posts by @Chinatown. He knows of companies that will pre-hire you, send you to their school, and pay you for going.
    c) Consider community college CDL schools; they often are much cheaper.
    d) If you can pass a DOT physical, you can get a job in this industry.

Its a full TEN year history mandated by the FMCSA. There is no provision in the regulations for three years. I have posted the link to 383.35 here several times. You MUST account for a full ten year employment history and account for the time. If you were a teen that's self evident. If you were out of the work force that's ok you just have to account for it.

If you haven't ever had a cdl then you only have to show 3 year work history.

Look at paragraph 1 on the fmcsa you posted. It says must show 10 year history where a driver held a c.d.l. when I started in 2006 I had to sho 3 years, but now I have to show 10.

383.35 states it this way. All jobs involving driving a CMV. There is no time period other then the ten year period said. I hear this three year thing all the time even in truck stops, its just not what the rules say. I understand that if you have never held a CDL before you have no history. If my memory serves me my last company asked for seven year general employment history for their new drivers. Outside of long term drivers companies are free to ask for what ever time period they desire. But the FMCSA mandates for these long term drivers a ten year period. This can be very confusing and to be honest some carriers don't fully understand 383.35.

This is true but don't expect to be lead driver for a minute. MBM will hire you. Sysco wants 2ys in most markets. Transco(Mclane), I'm unsure of. Maine's Paper and foods trains. Just put in app's.

Thing to do is read all that small print above the application.A lot of them will say Fmcsa requires a ten year work history for cdl holders otherwise is you haven't driven a commercial vehicle they require three.to be on the safe side I would ask the company first.

Yes this other debate got off topic a bit. OP you are fully employable. In your case its just a training situation.
