1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Brent, you posted the worst possible resume to be hired by.
Did you think that the driver's of whom you were asking advice would give you a tour of their truck and say that you too would definitely get a job with your history?:biggrin_25513:
Many of these professionals have seen a great many people with a record similar to yours turn their lives around by getting into trucking and they have seen even more revert back to habit (two speeding tickets and a reckless in under three years).
Second the felony is less than 10 yrs old, that is stated in every one of the online applications I have seen (as an absolute no hire, many co's wont hire a felon period)
We are not trying to be mean, but sometime honesty can seem to be very critical.
As was said before, give you record time to clear up, drop the felony beyond 10 yrs in age and the speeding tickets over 5-7 years. I know its bleak but it is what it is.

    Brent Thanks this.

YES, you are. you need several years of experience to be an O/O. and it takes more skills and discipline to be an O/O than being a company driver.

also, you would still have the matter of finding a company to lease onto and getting insurance. and there is not a company in the world that would lease a truck from someone (and trust him with their freight) with NO experience as a truck driver, a bad driving record, and a conviction for burglary. and you will also NOT be able to get insurance with no driving experience, a bad driving record and a conviction for burglary.

seriously, FORGET driving a truck. do NOT let any driving school convince you that after you go through their program (and fork over $3,000+) that surely there will be someone who will hire you. ain't gonna happen. sorry. you can get upset with the folks on here for giving honest feedback and "assassinating" your "character." but they're merely repeating the info (which you have freely volunteered) about the mistakes you've made. no, nobody's perfect. but I've been to Myrtle beach several times. I've never had a problem down there. never had a speeding ticket. not sure what "trap" you're talking about. I don't think you've quite gotten to where you accept responsibility for your life. good luck to you.

Guys.. we have ALL made mistakes.

Everyone deserves a chance, he knows that he screwed up, or he wouldn't have come here to ask for advice.. Why are you pointing out stuff that he already knows?

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

    Yeah, that.

Brent, daviddincau and kinnakeet04 Thank this.

Yep everyone deserves a chance and he blew his many times already. If he didn't want to know the truth he should not have asked the questions. I don't think anybody is casting stones at him just giving him the cold hard truth that he already knew but did not want to believe. Some people just can't handle the truth even when they know it and ask for it. The point is he is blaming all these things on anything but himself and it is his fault. It is not some cops fault for catching him or for having some speed trap he broke the law and got caught. If he had not done it he would not have been caught. Why is that so hard to figure out?

We are talking about speeding here, not murder.

Jeez.. I'm sure all of you did 55MPH exactly through slowhio too, right?

    Brent Thanks this.

It's speeding, reckless driving, and being a thief! GET REAL!!!! There is also the issue of blaming anyone but himself for the things HE has done..."Speed traps" and so on. I would NEVER even consider hiring a thief and I'm pretty big on personal responsibility.
There are a lot of qualified, experienced drivers out there that are not thieves looking for work
The man asked a question and was given a number of answers that were all similar in content. This industry is not for the weak. If you can not even own up to the things you do you are not going to flourish in this environment! I don't know him but I'd hate to see him WASTE HIS MONEY going to a truck driving school in these economic times when he has little or no chance of getting a job in the industry after he gets a license.

When times are better and the crimes are older and he has some time with a clean record then maybe he'll have a chance...But I would NEVER hire a thief to drive for me no matter how long ago it was that he was convicted.

I have been a residential contractor since 1996 and have worked in construction since I was 15 years old .In my trade I have never invented anything, I have always learned from others. I have been taught to look for the solutions not the problems . I came here out of respect, I respect your trade and your advice. My trade has had the life sucked out of it by, illegal workers, national home builders greed and the banking industries greed ( Fact ) I have not made any excuses on my post I have made explanations. I served a six year sentence for my crime. I am not a victim, I have subjected myself to my obstacles, I carry shame for my actions but not defeat . I have raised two children 25 and 27 have a loving wife ( lord knows why ) . I came here with questions and I got answers . I am greatful for ALL the answers that I have received. I have been a member of a 12 step program since I was 27 years old . The promises are true, if I drink, jails, intuitions or death . I think prison would be considered jail. Today I crawl before no one. Thank You to all Brent

Ps: I would use the spell check but I couldn't get it to work or it wanted me to buy it . Any input on that
