1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Now that post I can respect because you took accountability for your actions. Look I and the other posters were not being ###ez but had you started the thread in this manner then you would not have received as much "harsh" criticism at least not from me. Anyway just don't let these schools fool you into believing that you can get a job after getting your cdl. It's just not going to happen right at the present time. Don't throw away money on a very slim hope that someone might hire you. Give yourself a few years and a clean record and then you would have a decent chance at getting into this industry once or if it ever turns around. Stay smart and protect your license and record if this is what you want to do. We've all got demons in our closet but very few can overcome them. I found the strength to overcome mine in my kids. I am now sober for 13 years and have never wanted to go back to it because I have way to much to live for. Best of luck getting things turned around, it's tough out there right now no matter what your doing.

you don't think wages in trucking have been depressed? ask folks who have driven for decades - they'll tell you that they were making the same money back in the early 80s (NOT adjusted for inflation - REAL money.) and construction is NOT the only industry where white pe....I mean uh, Americans have been mexicaned out of jobs. as it's already been stated (by me and others, several times,) do NOT let a CDL mill slick talk you out of whatever money you have left. only consider going to trucking school if you can get a grant (money you DON'T have to pay back under ANY circumstances.) you may have a sliver of a chance getting on somewhere if/when the economy comes back. but trucking just doesn't pay as much as some people think, especially when you figure how many hours you have to put into it. yeh, you might make $500+ a week to start, but you're working so hard for it, you might as well be assembling whoppers (at the burger king.)

if you use firefox as a web browser, spell check comes with it. I've been using it instead of internet explorer for almost a year and I love it.

Hillbilly I would agree with you that his driving record is preventing him from getting hired anywhere or even going thru a school, but ok so he was convicted of second degree burglary and did his time... let's not just assume he's still a thief ok? So if I get into a fight with someone and get arrested does that make me a violent person for the rest of my life?? I can understand your position but the man has admitted his guilt.

Brent sorry to say but if you do indeed want to become a truck driver, you're gonna have to let those tickets fall off your record and keep your nose very, very clean for at least a few more years. The felony, after it becomes older, won't necessarily prevent you from being hired but it will raise eyebrows and they do have the right to pass you up for someone who's record is clean.

You should have read this post I made later in the thread. It was the fact of how he was blaming everyone else because he got caught from the start instead saying yeah I screwed up now how can I fix this. That's why I was being so hard on him and everyone else was too.

Yes I did see your later post hillbilly, I had posted that comment before you made your most recent one. I'm just hopeful that he's learned from his mistakes and won't be repeated. Perhaps it's just frustration on his part that he can't get into driving at this time. Like I said he needs to keep his record clean now for at least a few years, but even then companies may still turn him down and they have every right to do so.
