Good reason not to go job hopping. Makes a mess of your work history and filling out an application turns into a nightmare. (Advice I wish I'd followed.)

You need to provide all history, CDL and non back three years with no gaps, the rest of the ten years is CDL driving employment only till you hit ten years of the start of your driving carreer

Actually 383.35 does NOT say that. There is NO mention in 383.35 of the 10 year history of having a CDL it says driving a CMV. It is possible to drive some CMVs that do not require a CDL. Also there is no requirement to account for gaps. Its strange I know, but it is a fact. The FMCSA rules in this area leave the carrier with a lot of options. Also there is no mention in 383.35 of any 3 year history either. This is left up to the carriers and most ask for 3 years.

I have a decade of overseas non- driving work history I verify with the last three years of tax returns. Never been an issue.

So, employers, so far, have been happy as grits with four total years of "verifiable" work history and take my word on the other six years.

As for job hopping: I'm a job hopper. It happens. First CDL job was OTR. Quit because family couldn't deal with me being away. Second was a great local job hauling equipment, some oversize. I loved the job. But, a rainy month led to a series of $400-500 pay checks (commission job).

Can't pay the bills on that.

Took a day off to interview with an hourly company, got a call back the next day, took a DOT physical the following day, start Tuesday.

If the hiring guy is correct, overtime is mandatory and I will get 200 hours/ month. If this job can deliver the hours, I'll stay. If not, on to the next job.

Nothing wrong with being mobile in a job market that sometime promises the sky and delivers the landfill.

Some companies such as Maverick, Prime have a problem with it. Most companies will take your word that you were simply unemployed or stay at home dad, etc. Some may request a notorized letter signed by some friend or relative. Anyway, you won't have any problem either way.
