Very very true! There was actually federal legislation proposed from a number of Democratic members of congress recently making it illegal to discriminate against people with employment gaps, but it didn't make it to a law yet, maybe in the future. This was brought on by numerous companies saying in their advertising that only presently employed people will be considered for employment and they wouldn't hire anyone who didn't already have a job which is insane. Hopefully this legislation will make it into law soon to stop this disgraceful employment practice some companies use.

Prime had me do this for a company theat went bankrupt because I wasn't able to provide a contact to verify my employment. My recruiter told me to call the IRS and have them fax "me" my W2 and income reports to "my fax number" which was her number. There is no point in asking them to mail them as it takes 60 days and you can't mention that the fax number is to a potential employer as they won't do it if you do. The more you know!

Both sadly and unfortunately, there is a lot of prejudice against unemployed people, especially against long term unemployed people. Too many people think that unemployed people are unemployed by choice vs. being thrust into that situation.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    yes and no
NO because u been out trk for under 2 years they frown on that it might make it a little difficult
yes because u been on vacation for 14 months some trucking companies may hire you but require you go out for couple of weeks or more as long as you have clean MVR and CSA you should do fine.

I now first hand mine a little different than yours I been off truck 11/14/12 because of injury. I will not return to my company for various of reasons of how they treated me during my injury. crete told me since I been out of trk for over a year due to injury I will have to prove it was a injury thru doc note and go out for couple weeks and they will pay me .41 upon getting my own trk. I picked them because they have APU on their trucks so its not really that hard just pick the right company

Curious what kind of gap you had in your employment during the miserable, miserable, miserable Right Wing Reagan years? Oh yah....White Dog remembers quite clear Reagan's first words during his "Acceptance Speech"---Tighten your belts people....it's gonna be a long run.

    I
couldn't find a job to save my life, and I was willing to do ANYTHING.

Good post mje: after 6 months of not driving, some companies may requiIre you take a refresher course or be assigned a "trainer" for so many weeks. This happened to me back in 05/06. As for employment gaps; I have a small business on the side (licensed/tax id etc). This is the justification I use. With the driver turnover going back up towards triple digits (industry avg 80-90%) you should not have a problem getting back on the road, ASSUMING YOUR CDL IS RELATIVELY CLEAN AND NO MAJOR CRIMINAL ACTION(S) ON Y.O.U!
