If you like hauling containers....might be a good idea to get twist locks installed on your trailer.....set it up to haul 2 20 ft and 1 40 ft.

on empties I always just put a chain along the bottom in front and 2 straps over the top.

I used to haul empties from Letterkenny Pa to Milan Tn, chains worked better for me since the straps would cut on the top of the box edges, difficult to place strap protectors unless you have a good ladder.

The way I found to stop the strap problem was to place flat boards under the box to stop trailer flexing, found out the bow in the flat was flexing and would wear teh straps no matter how tight I had the straps.

lol, some of you are funny. shc load the first one near the front and the second one as close as possible, the wind drag isnt bad at all.

empty cans pay just as much as loaded cans, some of you are getting taken to the cleaners.

and some of you havent ever hauled cans period, or not hauled enough of em to know anything about it. cans are actually a common military load.. easy to see that

Oh no, I don't enjoy hauling them at all. Just they were the only thing I could find over $3 mile from middle of nowhere in WI. I wound up just butting them together, threw a chain on the nose of the front one and a chain on the assend of the rear and then 2 straps for each can. Seems to be working except for the horrible headwinds coming down 94 today.....of course when I have a high load lol. Well there goes my fuel mileage

I have found people who belittle others lack the ability to cope with the fact some people have enough common sense to ask questions.

We all have to start somewhere and no one knows everything, perhaps you may get a kick out of belittling others but shows petty and rather rude.

lol, aiwiron, you have lots of room to talk.

i am not belittling anyone, i am simply making the point that when SOMEONE DOES ASK A QUESTION of this nature , if you answer you should give a straight answer.

if you really dont know the answer, have only hauled maybe one of something, heard it at the truckstop, or just figured something off the top of your head, you might not want to chime in on a SECUREMENT question.

whats wrong did i somehow step on your toes??, i must have hit a nerve.

DOT spec in WA and OR IS 2 chains and 2 straps for a 20 ft can. They dont care if its empty or not. I have been popped for this as I thought an empty can didnt need the chains. Its actually 4 straps for a 40 ft with a chain in front and back. The reason I was given for the chains was that it covered the blocking and bracing. I asked if 1 more strap would cover it and NOPE, they wanted the chains and the straps. Good luck if you ever come up this way with empty cans on. You will get popped in a heartbeat

I have hauled several cans, empty and full on my flatbed and ONLY GIVE ADVICE ON MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE not the top of my head, or heard it in a truckstop, whatever. Next time you wanna try and belittle me then you better pack a bigger freaking lunch.
