Perhaps...but I have seen diesel with a 1203 placard. Like someone mentioned, maybe a bit overkill? But same class therefore it is legit? I dont think I have seen 1202 in my life, surely one of those tankers was hauling diesel
-
dry vans cant placards displayed once empty. I see drivers peal the plac and smear it on the side not realizing that it will take forever to get it off later on. thats why there are holders for them to be placed in.

Trucks aren't allowed on the lower deck....
Diesel is 1993 -
It is my understanding that the placarding numbers are international in their use.
I haul 1209, N-Serve, which is an additive to anhydrous ammonia to better attach the Nitrogen into the soil. -
Actually each hazard class has a 'miscellaneous' number, 1993 is the one for flammable, 1760 is the one for corrosive, etc. and it is permitted to use 1993 for diesel fuel. It is also permitted to use 1203 since you can over placard the higher flash point fuel w/ the placard for the lower flash point fuel.
If you look up 1993 inthe numerical section of the HM guidebook you'll fine a bunch of items listed starting w/ Flammable Liquid NOS [not otherwise specified] which is the modern shortcut that replaced NOIBN [not otherwise identified by name...
With hundreds of new products being introduced every year, alot of the new flammable stuff get put into the 1993 while the common items get numbers of their own.. -
If you are an Empty tanker you still have to keep a copy of the bills with the trailer, on the bills you write Residue Last Contained and the product and must keep the placards on until the tanker is washed out .
-
Yes sir,
We haul tons of diesel and all our tankers as well as other diesel companies are marked 1993...gasoline is 1207, crude 1267. -
This is my understanding ad well. We never wash the inside of our tankers, thus we never remove our placards.
-
A few years ago, I worked for an outfit hauling aircraft refueling trucks on Landall dropdecks. Even though they were "empty", we had to cover the hazmat placards and RN numbers with tape, and we had a special "residue" placard to put on over them for transit. I dont remember what the number was offhand now...
