?? Couple of times I've seen tankers with several bulk plackard on the side, yet they only had one non bulk plackard in back ( and front I assume ). Shouldnt they have same plackards in back?

Pull plenty of CONTAINERS with HAZARDOUS material in them.

I keep the PLACARDS on until the container has been SANATIZED as per shipping instructions , then remove them.

An empty & clean tank on a skid is freight [nbot designed to transport liquids], not haz mat so you do not HM on the CDL

A few years ago, i used to haul aircraft refueling trucks. If the tanks had residue in them, there was a placard for that that we used to cover up the regular placards. The UN number i cant remember at the moment...

    Never mind the penalty.

Consider this. Truck smoked alot cooling off, someone gets flighty call in the fire dept. They show up surround your rig, see the big diamonds, huddle and attack the whole thing. First they want the bills off your seat and door. NOW.

What? No bills? What? Nothing in the back?

If you aint hear yelling and hollaring you are fixing to. If that was your truck placarded while empty.

They will make things really really expensive for your employer. Enough to put him or them out of business.

FFE has a story related to hazmat, there is a stand pipe under the property in Texas I believe someone spilled a dallop of something into that pipe. By the time they hand wiped it clean properly treating against the dallop of hazmat into it FFE had to kind of tighten up a belt a mite a while to recover the financial hit.

Another headache that can happen is from kids messing with your signs. If you do have a set of placards that you can unfold,it needs to be on your pretrip list to make sure no one has tampered with them. As a kid in the 1960's I can remember the fun of flipping through the identifications.

What's the weight listed on the BOL?

If it's over 1001 lbs, you need class 3.
