I'm a company driver and have to fuel at the big chain based out of Knoxville, and so i play the game, but when i want a good meal, a place to park, i head to mom and pops, cause i know i'm going to find parking.
I wonder if the mega carrier drivers are told, YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR 10 HR break , at the chains tk stops.

I doubt it. I'm with a 'mega' carrier. We're told to fuel at these places due to pricing. I'm a L/O and often the fuel costs me 12-15 cents a gallon less at the big 5, than the independents due to corporate discounts. But we can do our 10 at any TS or rest area we want.
you pull in, fuel up and find a place to park. Usually not worth the effort to drive down the road looking for an independent to park.
After all, once you've closed your eyes, they're all the same.
And I certainly don't hang around truck stops of ANY kind, any more than I need to!

Nah....It the "Solar Powered Sissy Syndrome". They can't drive after dark!:biggrin_25523:

The nice thing about it is that it gives the rest of us a relatively clear path to run on because all of the "rollin' roadblocks" are nestled safely in their beds after rootin' around at the buffet for three hours!:biggrin_2559:

I'm noticing a lot of empty parking spots in the big places, and wondering if the economy is really worse than they are saying?

Yea, but my point wasn't the t/s are empty, it's an eerie kind of empty. Like this, and tell me it aint true....when some drivers are looking for a spot at nite, and it's so full, you can't even get the spots next to the scales? That kind of full. But now, you'll find a spot at any time, in ANY t/s, guaranteed.

    Maybe in California....

Out here in America, It's about the same as it usually is this time of year.

It seems as though you are trying to make a big deal out of nothing.
