I picked up the Powerhorse brand one from northern tool. $450 for 1600W.

I have shore power on the truck and a bunk heater. The shore power keeps the batteries charged and provides passthrough power to the inverter to run everything inside the bunk.

I can run it for 12-16hrs a night on 2 gallons of gas instead of idling the truck at 1.2 gallons/hr.

I've had it for about a month and already paid for it in diesel savings alone.

So, that’s big enough to power the block heater, bunk heater and what ever else you got hooked up??

    Ive had both.

If your having trouble deciding, i would ask you if you have additional boxes.

The closed rack gives you alot more in the way of storage. If you have frame boxes on truck or trailer you might not need that. If you dont have frame boxes i would highly recomend one.

Right now i have a closed rack again. 16 chains in one side with my edge protectors. Coil racks, mats and wood in middle with snow chains and whatever other crap i throw in there. Binders in the left cabinet with bungiees and metal edge protectors (and also whatever other crap i throw in there)

And i have two frame boxes on the tractor, left is all the straps and rachets(its a step box) . Right box is just my lumber tarps. And 2inch straps , steel tarps i strap to catwalk with a mudflap underneath them.

No. It only runs for 8hrs at like 1/4 load. The block heater pulls too much and would probably run out of gas after about 3-4 hrs.

If it gets cold enough to need the block heater I'll just idle. I don't worry until it's below 10° out with my truck.

Call up TriCity canvas products in Granite City, MO. They have good prices on everything for a flatbed.

We picked up a 3 door ProTech cabinet earlier this year for $2400 from them. If you want the top box as well just pickup a 18x18x60 box a bolt it on.

That's what I ran on my old truck.

Enclosed is Great for keeping stuff out of the weather like everyone said, also secured. Open is good when you need to grab stuff quick. Also depends on how often you use it, Everyday? Or a few times a week.
I have one like this on a truck. It's nice and deep = more storage and it has 2 shelves inside.

Right? I roll up an 8ft drop about as good as you can put a corpse in a carpet.

Not saying this is the best or only way, it's just the way I do it. Lay the tarp out, bring half to the middle, then the other half to the middle. Then fold one half over the other, then fold again. Bring one end approx. 2/3 of the way to the other end. Walk on the tarp several times to get the air out of the tarp. Roll up, put a bungie around it and bingo. Hope that helps.
