Oh, oh, another time, same tandem dump, we were doing a tear out of an old driveway, and it was some shloppy, wet clay mix, and IT WAS HEAVY. I got to the dump site, raised the box, end gate opened up, ,,,,nothing happened. It was like one big glop in the box. I ended up SHOVELING most of it out with my hand shovel. I was gone for like a half an hour. WHEW! When I got back to the job site, the guy that was running the excavator said, where the heck were you? I just looked at him, all sweaty and said a few choice words. He said, yeah, that load DID look a little wet.

I drove this back in the '80s. The drawbar for the trailer was hinged. I would haul to road projects and have to chain the gate to spread the gravel. The problem was the hyd system was so slow the trailer box would have to be almost all the way up before starting to spread. It tipped over backward onto it's tailgate a few times before I got the hang of it. :D

Hi Sublime, we had tandems and pups in Wis. too back then. They were very popular, but a pain, especially when dumping in a hole( had to jackknife). You don't see them anymore, as I think you can haul the same weight with a quad axle.

Me too driver!! Hauled buckshot out of Cedar Vale, Ks to a road project at Sharon, Ks. Last load of the week, I was hanging by a thread and decided to get a few winks at Wellington. Big mistake!! Load froze!! Needless to say I laid her over at the site.
