Ah, classic TTR discussion. I'm right, no I'm right, YOU'RE BOTH RIGHT. As an old rock/sand hauler, we never saw side dumps. Mostly frame and frameless end dumps, and they ALL go over. Had several close calls myself, never one went over tho. Dump work is without question, the hardest on equipment, and it never seemed to pay enough to warrant having my own truck. Let the boss worry about it.
Oh, btw, you know why they call it an "upset"? Because the boss sure gets upset when you tell them.

@snowwy ...........Like @NightWind said, a side dump will definitely turn over. They won't turn over as easily as an end dump but I saw three turn over in one night trying to patch a levee break. They were hauling boulders and broken concrete. Try telling the guy that paid the bill on those that a side dump won't turn over.
I don't know where you work but if you get caught using diesel for a slider the very least that will happen is getting signed out. If anybody from one of the agencies is around they'll hit you with enough penalties to ruin your while day. Maybe your whole month.
That being said, I miss using diesel.

I agree, you have dirt smelling like fuel, could be some unwanted circumstances. When asphalt went to soap suds to line the box, instead of diesel , many of us still carried a sprayer full in the cab. I think side dumps are okay for loose, dry materials, like stone or grain, but I think I'd still rather have an end dump for wet materials.

It was about 2 decades ago.
We went back to that job equipped with diesel in a pump bottle. It was going to the landfill. Made a big difference.

Around here. Don't think I've seen boulders in side dumps. Seems like hubs would break. They're usually hauled in dump trucks. Or ends.

I cracked a hub hauling broke up concrete.

Most ends that are still around are usually 2 axle..with a few 3 axle floating around.

The sides are usually 4 axle up to 7 axles.

I've pulled both. I'll take side over end any day all day.

I've seen dumps go over. But it was rare. I've seen ends. Have yet to hear of a side.
