I have no problem with anything you just stated. My company pays an extra $.01 per mile just to have it. That is about $1200 per year on my check. Worth it to me. To each his own. I have been with them 3 months so far and have not hauled hazmat yet.

I have hauled Hazmat with my last company. Not on a regular basis though. Probably 8- 10 placarded loads in 2 + years. I am by no means an expert when it comes to hazmat. Never hauled chemical tankers or gasoline for example. But, I do have some experience with the paperwork, procedures, etc. In my opinion, it never hurts to have any endorsement that you can qualify for. That's all I was trying to get across.

After reading all the replies I have decided to get the Hazmat endorsement. My current job doesn't require it, it's road repair for the county, but I like the reasoning of in the future it shows future employers I can pass a background check and it's my understanding hazmat loads are higher paying. Also I would be the only employee in the county with the endorsement which may increase my value with them at the very least. Thank you all!!

^ fleet fueling from what I hear is a pain. But I haven’t done any B work. So I don’t know about that side of the industry. Seems like the only thing that could’ve slowed the industry down is this pandemic. But as far as everything else I think I got the dream trucking job.
Dispatch gives me my work and doesn’t bother me even though their cool people just zero micro managing. No appointment times just load, which you do all yourself and show up no waiting on nobody. Home every night - 4 day schedule but can pick up all the overtime you want. I’ve been averaging 4 a week I’m at the bottom of my companies pay scale and after taxes/ medical/ 12% 401k I’m still clearing 1100+ a week. Plus quarterly bonuses, the company does yearly reviews and rewards the harder working mistake free drivers. So I should have a really good review. But the job doesn’t feel like work besides the occasional stop that you gotta pull out the long hoses. Or do a pump off. I’m young and quickly found why most of the fuel haulers are older guys with tons of seniority775mito Thanks this.
