Engine brake

    My engine brake in my 1999 770 volvo will not go off. I have disconnected the wire to the switch and check for fuses. There was not a fuse in the engine retarder position. What could this be

    In a Volvo engine such as a d12 the engine brake is operated by a solenoid it could have shorted in the open position. It is located under the valve cover

    Busted plunger spring in one of the engine brake assembly’s. Pull the valve covers with engine running and see which plunger is contacting the exhaust valve
