engine derated

ECU 128 is telling you that there is a failure of the engine. There are more numbers than this, to isolate it to specific sensors.

 

blame egr/dpf.

 

Yeah ... had it happen once to me and a lot of times company wide. The scenario usually starts with the check engine lights coming on and I the info dial says the engine is derated. If it is seriously derated it will only go about 12 mph down the highway ... however ... I have seen and experienced the display stating a derate has occurred and the engine operate normally for a very long time ... like in the order of 6 weeks with the display stating engine derated.

If it were me, I would drive it ... if you can keep it up to road speed ... and try to get it back to your company shop to let them access the situation. If it will only lug along at 10 to 12 mph there is nothing you can do except to call your company shop and let them tell you what you are to do, which will probably involve a wrecker and tow job. It may be a good idea to call the shop anyway and let them know what it is doing.

 

ECU 128 is the module with the code, 128 is the engine. You should be able to hit a botton on the display to toggle to the next screen that gives SID and FMI numbers. If not, you need a laptop to pull the code.

Both yellow lights coming on is telling me an emmisions related fault, which is vague, but all I can tell you at this point without more info.

 

128 could be something relate to fuel...filter. Inject. Harness cups etc at least with my 2007 columbia

 

ECU 128 can be ANYTHING that the engine ECM controls or monitors. The list is pretty big.

 

IIRC,128 is low DEF pump pressure...
