ECM SPN 5394 Aftertreatmen Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Dosing Valve –
    FMI 17 •Datavalidbubtelow normaolperating range-Leastsevere level
    • Dosing-failure

    • Aftertreatment DieseL Exhaust Fluid(DEF)dosing amount too low or DEF quality
    • MILilluminated

    • NOxemissions toohigh

    • NOxsensor •SCR catalyst malfunction • EGR mass flow failure• SCR inlet temperature sensor

So it could be a few things, if your not using much def it has to do with this code. It says it is working, but just barely below specs.
Ask if they checked the DEF quality, it does have a shelf life. Could be the EGR flow has a restriction, the pipe can get plugged up with soot build up. Could be chrystalization of DEF on the SCR catalyst. There is a service routine they can do for that. So far it looks like they don't want to spend any time on it.

If it senses the NOX levels going up, it normally throws a SCR Performance Low warning then asks for a parked regeneration to boil off the crystals. My old truck asked for that all the time and it was due to the DEF line heater being disconnected. Yeah I can understand how injecting half frozen DEF might gum up the works, lol.

It means you should get it scanned next time you are in for service if it isn't on right now.
