Make sure it’s really locked up. Not just a starter or a bad wire somewhere. Hard to believe a little ether locked it up. Too much will, but usually is only temporary. Maybe they burned up the starter, or blew a fuse trying to crank it, while it was ether locked. 3 Shops? Real Mechanic’s? Something don’t sound right. Engines rarely suddenly lock up, without a reason. Just doesn’t add up.

Wonder if the transmission is stuck in gear? -
They probably dumped a bunch of fuel on top of the pistons when they changed the fuel rail. Left it in there. Now it’s hydro locked. Eventually the fuel will wash past the rings and into the oil. Truck will start, but will need to sit for a while. I don’t know how long, maybe someone else does. Or take it apart and see if it has fuel sitting on top of pistons. 2 of them will have the most, other 2 less, other 2 even less. Any amount in one cylinder will lock it up. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me, if it’s really locked up.

I thought of that. Should have pulled an axle, or driveshaft when towing. Also thought about starter being jammed, or new fuel pump gears jammed. No telling. I bet it’s got fuel in the cylinders, from first shop. Sounds like they were guessing, till they figured out they left the shutoff valve off, put a fuel pump on, and really screwed up on the fuel rail. I’m not familiar with the fuel rail engines. Is it possible the cylinders are full of fuel? Maybe they pulled an injector or something?

A buddy got his oil changed in Clearwater mn on his ISX . He noticed that they were having a hard time to prime fuel filter and had air cleaner off . When the truck was ready he had a weird noise which turned into a full blown knock 5 hrs later . He ended up having cracked pistons and 3 damaged injectors which required a rebuild. With him being Canadian he was told it will be very hard to collect anything due to negligence.
