If it was me I’d build what I had. As far as CAT goes the Acert is the best platform. It has the strongest bottom end coming or going. If that meant dragging it out of the dealer that’s what I’d do. If it’s their cause you want warranty your waisting time and money cause no matter what they say if anything happens to it they are gonna say the failure was caused by a component that wasn’t replaced or inspected. Seen it too many times.

You can drop the compression to 16:1 IPD offers a really nice 1 piece steel monotherm piston, moly liners use a CAT head gasket an APC head don’t buy into the whole 800 cam 1000 cam etc bull ####. The only difference in those cams and stock is injector lobe position. The timing needs to match the injector you use. The intake and exhaust lift and duration is the same. Fix the IVA’s permanent and keep the compound turbos’s. You can get rid of precooler or keep it I usually keep it if it’s not leaking.

what you will have is a motor that will pull hell off the cross, get good fuel mileage and live. No cores and you’ll have less than 10 in parts. If a good hand puts it together yiur not going to need warranty. If a butcher puts it together then warranty won’t save you. The down time of the 2nd time is your killer not cost

The only thing I’d add is the temp range of an accert(much like 6nz) especially ifn your familiar with cats…is they run hotter op temp is mid 190s….so you gotta watch how quick they’ll climb from there when pulling hard.., and do NOT rely on your pyro gauge…those twins pull in so much air exhaust temps tend not to climb.,..so imho make believe it’s a b mechanical that engine fan switch is your friend

 

You are right there I run a set of twins on my C model. My pyro that’s post turbo will say 750 when the pre turbo is 1100. I don’t keep the probe in the manifold cause it will ruin a set of turbos. I wanted to know the difference and establish a baseline. If it gets anything above 750 we are hunting the problem whether it’s a lower gear or leak

 

Rebuild.
I know a guy down here in Arkansas who rebuilds engines.
He even replaced a guys 389 pete with a paccar engine to a C15 Acert.
He moved sleeper back, moved cab, took off hood and replaced engines.

But he rebuilt my Cummins engine which now has around 115k

 

Dealership said it would cost more to rebuild it.

 

It will for them to build.
They quoted me 35k to rebuild mine.
Other guy rebuilt engine, put all new AC system, (Yes all new belts/hoses too) for 20k.
Also had a new power steering pump as it was leaking just a bit.
