There are two Star's. One in Nashville and a completely different one in Illinois.
Glad you're happy. That's all that matters. Having the right dispatcher helps.
Enjoying Star

Got bunk heaters there? Or did they tell you to "bring extra blankets?"

I went to orientation with Star Transportation Nashville TN on 1/10/2011. It is now 1/18/2011. The trainer manager told me that there will be no trainers available until 1/28/2011. There were students that attedend orientation a week before me and they were on a waiting list. Now if Star Transportation Nashville TN didn't have trainors for those students why would the recruite more students. Sounds like poor planning to me. Does a person just starting up his/her career wanna get involved with such a company.

As far as the trainers, there are only 19 for the entire company. I don't know how that goes. They have really been pushing to get more of the drivers to be trainers. I wouldn't even consider it. Most trainees either quit, can't drive, or have bad attitude problems. The guys that want to teach others to drive a big rig... my hats off to them.
The only real problem I am having with Star now is this South East dedicated crap. They have started a new program and I didn't even have the choice to pick, however... we have midwest, southeast and northeast dedicated fleets to ensure drivers are home more often. Personally I hate being home and I really hate the city of Atlanta. I would rather sit in downtown Manhattan than Atlanta. Nothing personal against the people that live there, but #### it sucks. I am talking to my fleet manager tomorrow to get switched back to the OTR status.
