What's wrong with Peoplenet? There really isn't that much wrong with it that isn't also present with other methods, with the possible exception the the Rand McNally device, only reason I say possible is I don't know anything about that one.

I'm just guessing that a system(server) adjustment or reset can cause problems for Peoplenet and Qualcomm, I know there are issues with stored data being less than correct as to location at a given time. The smart phone ones have issues, too.

The new Peoplenet with the touch screen has probably addressed many of the speed issues, and the new Q-comm probably is nicer to use than the predecessor was, too, although I have heard things that say otherwise.

The service techs for Q-comm in Chicago told me troubles are sporadic with them, but some days they are swamped. I'd rather get my load on paper and deal with the nanny later, if put in the position of an e-log being nonoperational, but many companies are really bugged by doing everything electronically that they possibly can, so they have temp units to put in loaner trucks if they can possibly do that in a timely manner, you also have to wait while they decide what to do about a dead or malfunctioning e-log.

I've always ran paper logs, I will NEVER run e logs. I'm not going to let the DOT see my every move it's not of their gd business what I do every minute. Most days all the dot gets from me is a pre and post trip and a straight driving line since I run local. When I ran over the road I logged a lot better than that. In my opinion if you can't fill out a paper book you can't drive a truck. Simple as that I know people that can not read who drive a truck and still can fill out paper (not a lie he never learned how to read).

If,(oh and I do because my company will not allow us to cheat )I log my paper logs just as it happens, how can a E-log "make me a safer driver"? oh it cant..E-logs are NOTHING more than an enforcement/harresment tool...All these clowns that push for them just want control over your movements..Bottom line ..I chose when to drive or not..

Chafed brake hose..... You Look, of course, its not chafed, ask cop to show you, sorry he's too busy, have 2 shops, licensed mechanics inspect, write on the work order "no chafed brake hose" send it all in to try to fight it, and it still stands! The system is whacked out if some jar head ###### state police officer's opinion on the status of a truck parts, is above a licensed mechanic.
In Maine anyway this is how it works.

This is why OOIDA fought this ''broken system'' to the end...

Dot Cop - Driver you have 80 lbs in one of the drive tires...

Me the driver- No DOT man.I have 103lbs according to my gauge.

Dot Cop- When is the last time you had your gauge ''calibrated''

Me the Driver- Are you kidding me..?

Dot Cop- Heres your ticket and your little whit DOT FIX IT...

Me now have 9 points on CSA Record...Wait Wait,we can go fight it through the DataQ...

Me- I send in ticket and ''proof'' that this is a bogus ticket...

QData- They go back to the arresting officer and ask him..Of course the Cop is gonne keep his story the same.Cop will not screw himself...

QDat- Charges stand because Cop said it was low on air..

Me- Go #### Yourself, you no good rotton POS....

Me- 9 points and a call from L/S telling me i am an OUTLAW un fit driver...Shame Shame...

Me- L/S go #### yourself too....

The system is BROKEN and FLAWED and we drivers are going to SUFFER BIG....

I ###### near got a log book violation in PA, he asked me why I only show a 15 minute pre and post trip. I said "Officer I keep my equipment in good shape, If I find anything wrong it's taken care of immediately. The mechanic gives it a good once through ever Saturday when I wash it" He then laughed hysterically like I was lieing (what I said was really true the mechanic gave all the road trucks a once over and I wash my truck 1 time a week and I vacuum it 1 time a day)... He wrote me a warning and said next time he was gonna do a better job inspecting me..
