The EPA would love to know that you're running off road diesel in your truck, because it's the environment you would be harming. DOT wouldn't care, IRS only cares for the road taxes.
-
The DOT and IRS is who dips your tank. Dyed fuel is untaxed fuel, the sulphur content is the same as taxed fuel. EPA wouldn’t care.
bzinger, NightWind, Last Call and 1 other person Thank this. -
Which refinery do you work at?

You might what to study up on what each governmental group does cause it sure is funny every time I ve had my tanks dipped it was done by a DOT and the guys I know that have gotten caught end up getting a letter from the IRS only time I’ve ever heard of the EPA being involved is if there was fuel spilled .
But hey it was your story to tellLast edited: Feb 12, 2024

I've never seen DOT dip tanks. And other posters here agree. They CAN, of course, but I have never heard of anyone having it done. It's done for tax purposes, and the IRS is the tax enforcement branch of gov't.
EPA inspections true or myth?
Any agency CAN do it I'm sure. I'm just saying it would be interesting to do. Horrible for those drivers, though.Last edited: Feb 12, 2024
